The Prince of Wales Will Participate in Cop30 in South America

Prince William plans to participate in the key UN climate summit in the South American nation next month, however the PM's attendance is still to be determined.

The Prince is set to award the Earthshot prize and take part in the conference of delegates from in excess of 190 nations in Belém.

Environmental Experts Applaud Royal Attendance

Sustainability leaders applauded the prince's involvement. An environmental strategist commented that it would lift what is anticipated to be a challenging summit, where international agreement on new targets for cutting climate pollutants is essential.

"[King Charles was in his previous role when he participated in Cop26 and helped to galvanise discussions. I don't think it necessarily needs both of them to go."

Prime Minister's Attendance Remains Uncertain

The UK's leader has yet to announce whether he will attend the conference, to which every international officials are asked, with scores planning to join. The leader was strongly criticized by leading climate advocates for appearing to waver on the choice in recent weeks.

"World leaders need to be in the summit location for Cop30. Attendance is not merely symbolic, it is a demonstration of responsibility. This is the opportunity to secure stronger national commitments and the resources to achieve them, especially for resilience" to the impacts of the global warming.
