The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in South America

The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in South America next month, as confirmed by royal officials.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were present at the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the UN meeting.

Official representatives have characterized the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as assuming an crucial position in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were welcomed guests including environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and politicians.

This participation featured addresses together with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco during the current year.

Earthshot Awards Link

The UN meeting will coincide with the prince's own Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the day before he participates in the COP summit on the sixth of November.

In recent days the William referred to the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

King Charles has been a key figure at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the existential threats confronting humanity over climate change, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed participants.
